The Annual ShanghaiTech Symposium on Information Science and Technology (ASSIST) is an international forum that features fundamental research developments and groundbreaking technologies in the areas of computer science, electrical engineering, information engineering and computational mathematics. Each year, we invite some of the most renowned researchers in the world from both academia and industry to present their latest research work and to discuss future research directions. The Symposium aims to bring the state of the art in research and industrial technologies to young faculty and graduate students in China, especially in the neighboring areas of Shanghai.
The first ASSIST held in 2015 focused on Data Science and Machine Learning. The second ASSIST held in 2016 focused on three main topics: Robotics, Virtual Reality, and Computing Theory and Systems. The third ASSIST held in 2017 focused on Artificial Intelligence. The fourth ASSIST held in 2018 focused on Computer Vision. The fifth ASSIST held in 2019 focused on Smart Life. We restarted the ASSIST 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on carbon neutrality and connected intelligence. Last year, the fifth ASSIST focused on large-scale models, jointly held with the university’s tenth anniversary week, celebrating her achievements over the first decade.
This year, our symposium theme is on Information, Intelligence and Sustainability. The symposium is hosted by the School of Information Science and Technology, ShanghaiTech University. The featured topics include, but are not limited to the following:
